Business intelligence software to be important in 2012 market

New research revealed by analyst firm Gartner has revealed that business intelligence software is to remain a vital tool for companies to utilise in 2012. Revealing its latest growth projections for the year, Gartner said that the software as a service (SaaS) market would see around $120.4bn in sales during 2012, despite previous global growth figures being lowered from 5% to 4.5%.

Talking of the software market in 2012, Gartner research vice-president, Tom Eid, said: “Spending in 2012 is anticipated to focus on industry-specific applications; upgrades to established, mission-critical software; integrating and securing established systems and infrastructure; and software as a service (SaaS) deployments representing extensions to, or replacement of, existing applications and new solutions”. It was also revealed that customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and business intelligence software were to remain key segments in 2012’s application software market, allowing firms to put the economic woes behind them and look to future prosperity.

Business intelligence software can offer many advantages for those companies who utilise it in the right way, providing vital insights into the processes and operations of firms. This can enable executives to make quick changes company-wide or in specific divisions, meaning that firms can make the most of their intelligence by pushing growth forward and excelling against competitors. For those who want to ensure that they are always looking to the future, programs such as ERP and business software will be vital.
